Following in the Footsteps of Christ

A Gift For You

What is life all about?  Life is all about the glory of God!

1. All of Creation is for God's Glory.
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1

"May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works." Psalm 104:31

"Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory!" Psalm 72:19

"The heavens declare the glory of God..." Psalm 19:1

2. Glorifying God is Man's Reason for Existence.
"everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made." Isaiah 43:7

"Ascribe to the LORD, o clans of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength!  Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him!  Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness." 1 Chronicles 16:28-29

3. The Holiness of God.
"You who are of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong, why do you idly look at traitors and are silent when the wicked swallows up the man more righteous than he?" Habakkuk 1:13

"but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear." Isaiah 59:2

4. The Depravity and Condemnation of Man
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

"We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.  We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away." Isaiah 64:9

"For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, 'Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them." Galatians 3:10

5. The Justice of God.
"For the Lord is righteous; he loves the righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face." Psalm 11:7

"But the LORD of hosts is exalted in justice, and the Holy God shows himself holy in righteousness." Isaiah 5:16

"God is a righteous judge, and a God who feels indignation every day.  If a man does not repent, God will whet his sword; he has bent and readied his bow." Psalm 7:11-12

6. The Great Dilemma
"He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the LORD." Proverbs 17:15

7. God's Glorious Saving Love.
God has glorified Himself through creation, and He will glorify Himself through judgment.  It is wonderful beyond all comprehension that He has chosen to glorify Himself by saving hopeless, lost sinners!

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

God's glorious love was demonstrated when he punished and killed his Son in our place.

"But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?" Romans 8:32

"Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand." Isaiah 53:10

"who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our identification." Romans 4:25

8. God Desires to Glorify Himself by Saving Us.
A change of heart to turn from loving yourself and sin and to begin to love and obey God is called REPENTANCE.
A new confidence in Christ to forgive all your sin and to be your new Lord is called FAITH.
"how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house, testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ." Acts 20:20-21

The Bible also calls faith BELIEF.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

9. Repent and Believe Today!
"For he says, in a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.  'Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.'" 2 Corinthians 6:2

Do you feel deeply sorry and regretful for your sin and failure to glorify God?
Do you truly believe Jesus died in your place, has taken your punishment, and will forgive you?
Do you truly desire to begin obeying Him as the Lord of your life?

Tell Him of your sin and disobedience.
Tell Him of your deep sorrow for failing to glorify Him.
Tell HIm you now rely on Him through His death to forgive you and to save you from sin.
Tell Him you now commit to stop loving sin and self and to start learning to love and obey Him.

10. Test of Biblical Assurance.
"Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall." 2 Peter 1:10

"Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith.  Test yourselves.  Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? - unless indeed you fail to meet the test!" 2 Corinthians 13:5

1 John 1:5-6 How is your walk with God?  1 John 1:8-10, what is your relationship with sin?  1 John 2:3, Do you have a desire to obey His commands?, 1 John 2:6, Do you seek to walk like Jesus? 1 John 2:9, What is your relationship with other Christians? 1 John 2:15, Do you love this world system?  1 John 2:19, Do you continue in the faith?  Do you possess the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23?
